I’ve mentioned d this before, but I was at the district assembly in summer of 1976, in Chicago. Fred Franz was there to give a talk. He shook his finger at the audience and said that nothing happened in 1975 because “You wanted something to happen.”

I was baptized in 1974 at the age of 14. The approaching end of the system was near. Watchtower articles, talks, assemblies and literature about 1975 were in a frenzy. Field service was at an all time high!
There was one brother who owned a small hot dog/beef stand who sold his business and pioneered. 1975 came and went. He quit attending meetings after the ''new system'' failed to appear.
After 1975, the Watchtower Society blamed its debacle on its members for reading into things, and not the Society for the NON-stop pounding of the ''nearness of Jehovah's day.''
IT WAS THE FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE WHO HEAVILY PROMOTED 1975 AS ''THE END OF THE SYSTEM OF THINGS''...NOT THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
Clearly, Jesus was concerned that his followers too could become distracted by Satan's world, even to the point that they might "return to the things behind." (Luke 17:22, 31) And, indeed, this has happened to some Christians. For years such ones longed for the day when Jehovah will put an end to this wicked world. However, when Armageddon did not occur by the time they expected, ` they became disheartened. Their confidence in the nearness of Jehovah's day of judgment faded. They slowed down in the ministry and gradually became so involved in the mundane matters of life that little time was left for spiritual matters. (Luke 8:11, 13, 14) In time, they `returned to the things behind'--how sad!

Does anybody ever wonder why ?
by smiddy3 insupposedly, god jehovah, el , or whatever else he may have been called many thousands of years ago, or so the storys goes ,dealt with humans on a regular basis communicating with them for either good or bad.according to how they pleased him or displeased him.. so the bible record says.. how is it that god , jehovah or whatever other name you want to call him has not communicated with humans on any level for the past 2000 years ???.
in this scientific ,technological age ,wouldn`t you think this would be the time he would communicate with the potential dangers we face in potentially destroying ourselves and ruining the planets wildlife unless he interveined ?.
that`s if you even beleive that such a god actually exists .. and if he does why so silent in this day and age,?.

Supposedly, God spoke to Adam, Cain, Noah, Joseph, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Samuel, David, Job and Jesus ( Mark 1:11 when he calls Jesus his beloved Son).
Once you realize that the Bible is mythology, you will understand why God hasn't spoken to anyone since the death of the last apostles.

In all 3 instances, ample proof was presented to each member but only some woke up, and rightfully left - like yourself. Why is that? There is clearly something missing in some people who are susceptible to cults and cannot leave. Any ideas what it might be? Anyone that ventures a theory or pschoanalysis, I really want to know.
Great post ThomasMore!
I was a Jehovah's Witness for close to 40 years. Stopped attending all meetings (faded) nine years ago. I have over 20 family members who still attend meetings. Why did I fade and my family still attend? I was getting mentally exhausted, couldn't live with the lies of the Watchtower Society and I told myself that I would have to live with all the consequences from leaving. My family have left me alone and so have the Elders. It's up to every individual to stay or leave. Some choose to stay for family...some choose to stay for comfort...some choose to stay because that is all they know!

Some who served in a form of special full-time service for a long time have received a change of assignment. Translation: The now defunct District Overseer assignment and other assignments that received full financial support were cut due to corporate downsizing.
Exactly! Just like our District Overseer Mario Beltrami and his wife who were thrown down to the curb when he reached a certain age. What did he receive after all his years of dedication and service? A small apartment in Florida. My brother and many other Elders in his congregation send them money every month so they can survive and pay their rent, food and insurance.

STUDY ARTICLE 12
Do You See What Zechariah Saw?
11. What challenges do some of Jehovah’s worshippers face today?
11 Change is challenging for many of us. Some who served in a form of special full-time service for a long time have received a change of assignment. Others have had to relinquish a cherished privilege because of their age. It is normal to feel disappointed when such a change affects us. Initially, we may not fully understand the decision or agree with it. We may miss the way things used to be. And we may become discouraged, feeling that in our new circumstances, we are of little use to Jehovah. (Prov. 24:10) How can Zechariah’s vision help us to keep giving our best to our God?
12. How can Zechariah’s vision help us to cope with disappointment resulting from a change in our circumstances?
12 We cope better with change when we look at things from Jehovah’s perspective. He is accomplishing great things today, and we have the unique privilege of being his fellow workers. (1 Cor. 3:9) Our responsibilities may change, but Jehovah’s love for us will not. Consequently, if a change in the organization affects you personally, avoid getting caught up in the whys and wherefores behind the change. Rather than long for “the former days,” prayerfully look for the good in the change. (Eccl. 7:10) Rather than think about the things you can no longer do, think about all the things you can do. From Zechariah’s vision, we learn the importance of keeping a positive attitude. Thus we will remain joyful and faithful even when our circumstances change.
After you take off your rose-colored glasses, you finally begin to see how the Watchtower Society use the Watchtower Study for blind obedience and compliance. The articles are just a steering mechanism.
The Watchtower Society operates as a business, with business interests and ventures. They close Branches, lay off Bethelites, reduce workforces, sell Kingdom Halls and Brooklyn properties. And, don't forget the payouts from of all lawsuits filed against them.
Don't ask questions! Don't get disappointed or discouraged! Prayerfully look for the good in the change while the Society runs off with all the proceeds.

Thank you neat blue dog for getting my point! These fools at the WTBTS are supposedly ''God's representatives'' here on earth? They have ''sayings of everlasting life''? I don't think so.

'' This is garlic powder. The son of Adam tainted our pure relationship with Jehovah. Garlic bread represents inherited sin and imperfection. Now, garlic powder is not poison. The bread is still edible, but if we continue to veer away from the leading of God's spirit, we sadden him. We grieve the spirit.''

The Watchtower—Study Edition | December 2022
6 Jehovah has created us to find enjoyment in our work. (Eccl. 2:24) We will be especially busy during the Thousand Year Reign of Christ. Those who survive the great tribulation, as well as the millions who are resurrected, will need clothing, food, and a place to live. Filling those needs will mean a lot of rewarding work. Just as Adam and Eve were to cultivate their garden home, we will have the privilege of cultivating the Paradise earth. Imagine also how enjoyable it will be to educate the millions of resurrected ones who know little about Jehovah and his purpose and to help faithful ones who lived long before Jesus’ time to learn more!
After being resurrected in crisp and ironed clothing, a full beard with a matching head band from 2000 years ago, Jedudiah doesn't even get one minute to explore Paradise earth. He immediately starts a Bible study (with a brother who has an unfair advantage, using a tablet while he reads from a written Bible.)
Where does Jedudiah live, how does he shop for food and clothing? How does he pay for the items? How did the brother conducting the Bible study get so lucky, living on a lake with mountain views? How did Jedudiah get to the Bible conductor's house? Car, boat, train, bus or walked?
Too many questions with very FEW answers!
